Ancient Board Games

Historical research

In 2011 our interest into history teaching lead us to focus on ancient board games, which looked profitable on both sides, logical-cognitive and historical. This study led us to travel throughout Europe, meeting with the authors of the research and papers that we used, and visiting the museums where are conserved the original archaeological finds. The outcomes of this research will be soon published in Italian and English language.

Educational use of games

In 2013 we begun to test in Italian primary school an history course focused on ancient board games, played and analysed in rapport to their culture of origin. In three years this test involved almost 1800 students and 70 teachers, gaining us publications and academic invitation in conferences or ordinary lessons. Actually we are working at the accessibility of the materials developed during the research, aiming at their publication in 2017.

Funny historical workshops

Begin to teach doesn't meant stop to learn and increase our perspectives!

Since we found very interesting the use of game in history lessons at school, we prepared some historical workshop also for teachers and academic professors. Every course hides a deep historical research, posed in a funny way. The information is given just partially, creating a sort of enigmatic game which can really challenge the historical skills of a professional historian. Of course, we have a lot of fun in preparing and doing these activities!
